4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to provide our services:

  • Service providers we resell, such as Microsoft and Google, when you order their services from us.
  • Domain registries and registrars, including BOCRA for .bw names and our wholesale registrar for other names. Registries may publish some registration details in their public WHOIS records, as their rules require.
  • Our payment provider, to process card payments.
  • Our AI assistants. The support assistant in the Cloud Console and Thapelo on our website use an AI service from Anthropic, hosted outside Botswana. We send it only what is needed to answer your question, and never passwords, keys or bank details. Thapelo tells you it is an AI, cannot see customer accounts, and asks for contact details only in its contact form.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell personal information.

5. Transfers outside Botswana

Our platform currently runs on servers in the United States, provided by Contabo. We plan to move it to a data centre in Botswana. Some of the providers above also process information outside Botswana. A full list of providers is in our list of service providers. We only transfer personal information to countries the Information and Data Protection Commission considers to offer adequate protection, or with safeguards the Act allows. Where the Act requires a copy of transferred personal information to remain in Botswana, we will meet that requirement as the Commission directs.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and service information while your account is open, and billing records for as long as tax and company law require, currently seven years. Security logs are kept for 12 months. Conversations with Thapelo are deleted 90 days after the last message. If you ask us to get in touch, we keep your details and the conversation for 12 months after we last dealt with your request. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7. How we protect it

We use encryption, two-step login, restricted staff access, monitoring and tested backups. If a personal data breach affects your information and is likely to cause you harm, we will tell you and the Commission as the Act requires.

8. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act you may ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • give you your information in a format you can take elsewhere;
  • not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

Send requests to legal@fourthgeneration.technology. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Information and Data Protection Commission.

9. Cookies

Our website only uses cookies that are needed for it to work, such as keeping you signed in, remembering your country and, if you chat with Thapelo, keeping your conversation for 90 days. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this notice and ask for your consent first.

10. Changes

We will post any changes to this notice here and tell customers of material changes by email.
